When problems overwhelm us and sadness smothers us, where do we find the will and the courage to continue? Well, the answer may come in the caring voice of a friend, a chance encounter with a book, or from a personal faith.
For Janet, help came from her faith, but it also came from a squirrel.
Shortly after her divorce, Janet lost her father, then she lost her job, she had mounting money problems... But Janet not only survived, she worked her way out of despondency and now she says life is good again.
How could this happen?
She told me that, late one autumn day, when she was at her lowest, she watched a squirrel storing up nuts for the winter. One at a time, he'd take them to the nest. And she thought: "If that squirrel can take care of himself with the harsh winter coming on, so can I! Once I broke my problems into small pieces, I was able to carry them. Just like those acorns, one at a time".

Kroe: News of the world
Just a couple of random remarks:
* Royalty: Albie II has broken his hip or something, Leasle's favourite Boytoy Billie (Prince W), may or may not have reunited with his lovely Kate, and S's tabloid princess Paris has rejoined the free world. Oh, eventful days!!!
* On a less regal note, David & I will be moving away from Ghent soon. We won't be going too far (Zele is only a train-ride away as Leasle will tell you), but still... 'the end of an era' is nearing...
Surprisingly, I'm feeling less nervous about this prospect now that things are getting realler and more concrete by the minute. Considering my knack for emotional consistency, this might just mean that I'm minutes away from a new nervous breakdown, but we'll have to wait and see. *resists the temptation to get all cynical and put up a poll where you get to predict the timing of my next drama-queen moment*
For now, though, I feel like a millionaire! Ok, the wording may be stolen from Freddie (once again), but it is how I feel. Sun shining, limbs eager to get me out for a run, day full of good intentions and formidable plans just ahead of me. It's all good.
Musical recommendation of the day: http://youtube.com/watch?v=5RB2BvvByUo
It's Meggie White from The White Stripes singing 'In the cold, cold night'.
(See, I do listen to other bands :p )
Peace and good luck to ye all

Kroe: You take my breath away (Queen) + enhancing your karmic value
My dears,
I will take the time to thank each and every one of you personally in days and weeks to come. For now, this message will have to suffice.
Let me tell you, my dearies, all of you have contributed to a spectacular 25 th birthday!
I like to think of Somebody to love as my favourite Queen song, but I am really too blessed with your love and affection for it to really hold for me.
Freddie complains: Can anybody find me somebody to love???
Well, I for one have been blessed not with one, but full-fledged cohorts to love!
But I guess it 's time for me to stop bragging about so many loved ones in my life. So I'll just shut up and be happy as the rest of this marvellous, marvellous day unfolds.
Leasle, Sara, Liesbeth, Marioula, Malena & nona, Marijke, Stavro, mama Soultana, and, of course, my one and only David..... You take my breath away
(Maria, try & listen to this one, if and when you can... the piano in it is so moving)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndV_qgOLlsQ&mode=related&search=
Peace
Annoula
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll probably come back to this at some point in the near future, but I've promised a friend of mine to have this link up asap. So..... Should any of you feel inspired to 'raise your karmic shares' (nod to S) and better the world we live in, surprise your loved ones with this beautiful, beautiful gift. I can tell you, it was the first gift I was to receive on the morn of my 25th birthday, and it turned out to be a magical day. So, please follow L's suit and go and make the world a better place, whenever you can. I know I'll be doing just for that for a bunch of you, soon.
The link: http://www.heifer.org/
A very important plus: you not only help a family in need, that commits to helping another family in need as soon as they can, but you also receive a gem of a booklet, with beautiful, peaceful drawings, and informing bits of text, with gloriously funny titles like "pigs for progress".
Tell, what heartless, humourless creature (barring the soon to be slaughtered pigs we already mentioned, perhaps) would not appreciate a gift like that???
Love

Kroe: I wanna make a supersonic (wo)man outa you!!!!
Freddie & the regal gang rule!!!!
(defying the laws of gravity....)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=58CJih1iYC0
OK, I don't think I've got much to share with the world today, but I do want to wish my dear, dear friends the best of luck with their exams and overall, of course (the last bit's for all of you dearies, needless to say)!!!!
In addition, here are some words of wisdom I found on -please refrain from rolling your eyes at this point- a healthy living community:
Watch your thoughts; they become words.Watch your words; they become actions.Watch your actions; they become habits.Watch your habits; they become character.Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. - Frank Outlaw
No idea who that Outlaw fella is, and I'm sure there a more elegant ways to contain that message of his. It's a good one, though. Should be mandatory for us headcases, each and every morning we make the effort to get out of bed. Same goes for Don't stop me now, but I'm sure the mere mention of Freddie has got some of us rolling our eyes... Unfortunately for them...
There's no stoppin' me!
I'm having a ball :-p

Kroe: A New Life is Born (or not; Queen got that one wrong, I guess)
For a minute there, I had entertained the thought of a spectacular come-back message, announcing to the world (or that part which I deem interesting enough) that there's a baby on the way...
Alas, the mood swings of late are entirely mine, and the lateness of my period merely the result of an iron deficit....
Silly, silly me. And shame on silly me for allowing D to convince me to take that p test a few days earlier than I had planned...
It's all for the best, I guess. At least experiences like these inform me that I do want kiddies in my life, after all. It's just the thought of those huge & persistent responsibilities that is sometimes less than appealing to me. *Visualizes Kissy nodding in agreement -vehemently & unsuccessfully suppressing a sigh - as she reads this*
Well, love to all, take care, and in obeyance to that most magnificent of poprock bands ever (insert name of you know who): keep yourself alive!!!!
*headbangers' alert*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrxh_I2xFfs&mode=related&search=
Peace!!!

Just an afterthought: please note that I have refrained from lamenting Feddie's recent loss in the French Open final (which, by the by, coincided with the first, very disappointing results of last Sunday's general elections, here in ole Belgium...)
Peace
